Computing Education | Artificial Intelligence in Education

I am an assistant professor at the Software Technology for Learning and Teaching group of the department of Information and Computing Sciences at Utrecht University (80%). I am also an associate professor at the Information Technology Administrator program at Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica (25%).

Teaching is at the center of my work. I am involved in different courses, with a primary focus on teaching programming to non-CS students. I love working with students from all backgrounds, whether they are completely new to programming or already have some experience.

My research sits at the intersection of computing education, computational thinking, and the role of generative AI in learning and teaching — organized around three focus areas and a set of overarching questions. See my research lines for an overview.
